葉德全博士完成醫學本科教育后赴美讀博,學習細胞生物學、血液學、免疫學和藥理學。在完成博士后訓練之後,在美國斯克利普斯研究所擔任助理教授、副教授,之後再伊利諾伊大學醫學院擔任終身教授。于2010年擔任上海交通大學致遠講席教授、藥學院院長,同年入選“國家千人計劃”。自2015年起為澳門大學講座教授,目前研究重點為免疫藥理學,包括G蛋白偶聯受體活化機制,天然免疫和炎症疾病的調控機制,天然藥物的抗炎作用機理及新藥靶點發現等。在美國工作期間連續二十多年獲NIH資助,著有SCI學術論文一百六十多篇,總引用九千多次。擔任國際藥理學聯合會甲酰肽受體命名委員會主席,完成該受體系列的國際統一命名。先後擔任NIH科研經費評審組成員,《美國生理學雜誌(肺生理)》副主編,《分子藥理學》編委,《免疫學雜誌》分科編輯,《藥理學評論》副主編。
