The First University of Macau (UM) Intellectual Hackathon is now open for applications! Participating student teams are required to create application prototypes using the data on the Data and Application Programming Interface (API) Portal within the specified time period to provide creative solutions for problems faced by UM members who live or study on the campus. In addition to receiving cash prizes (MOP 10,000 for the first-prize winner), the winning teams will have the opportunity to participate in the incubation programme of UM’s Centre for Innovation.

The competition will be held from 26 October to 27 October in the Centre for Innovation, on the first floor of Building N1. Students interested to take part in the competition are encouraged to form multidisciplinary teams. Participating teams are required to use the data on UM’s API Portal to create app prototypes within 24 hours. The specific problem statements will be announced on the day of the competition.

UM will hold an information session on 19 September (next Wednesday) in Room N1-1004, in the Centre for Innovation, to let students exchange ideas and find their team partners. The competition will give out prizes in three categories, First Prize, Outstanding Prize, and Innovative Prize. The number of the prizes will be determined according to the number of participating teams. For more information, please visit https://ci.ici.umac.mo/news/hackathon2018/.
