The University of Macau (UM) next Friday 24 August will hold the first lecture of the UM Distinguished Lecture Series in the new academic year. Prof Tong Chan, president of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, will give a talk titled ‘From A Kung Ngam to Clear Water Bay: My Life Journey’. During the talk, he will share his life experiences and interact with students. All are welcome.

Prof Chan is a renowned mathematician and has been serving as HKUST president since 2009. Born and raised in Hong Kong, he studied in the United States and has served in teaching, research, and senior management positions at leading institutions, including Yale University, the University of California at Los Angeles, and the National Science Foundation in the US. Prof Chan will assume office as president of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology in Saudi Arabia this September.
