Upon approval of the chief executive of the Macao SAR, 19 people, who are acknowledged to be outstanding individuals in the areas of science, technology, and innovation, have been appointed new members of the Macao SAR government’s Science and Technology Committee. Six of them are from the University of Macau (UM). The new appointees will serve a two-year term, starting on 8 August 2018.

The six UM members are Lam Kam Seng, chair of the UM University Council; Kou Kam Fai, member of the UM University Council; Rui Martins, vice rector of UM; Wang Yitao, director of UM’s Institute of Chinese Medical Sciences and director of the State Key Laboratory of Quality Research in Chinese Medicine; Prof U Seng Pan, a visiting professor from the FST; and Chan Kuai Son, UM alumnus and member of the advisory committee of the Faculty of Science and Technology.

In addition, UM Rector Yonghua Song has been serving as an advisor to the SAR government’s Science and Technology Committee since 2002.
