University of Macau (UM) Rector Yonghua Song recently visited the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) to learn more about the faculty’s latest research achievements. Chuxia Deng, dean of the FHS, updated Rector Song on the faculty’s breakthroughs in precision medicine and cancer research. One of the highlights is a research study led by Prof Joong Sup Shim, which applied the genetic theory of synthetic lethality that resulted in a potential target for precision cancer therapy. The research result has been accepted by a high-impact journal. Rector Song praised the faculty for its research achievements and congratulated Prof Shim’s team on their breakthrough.
