How have you been doing in the first week of new semester? While you are busy making plans for the new semester, take a break to appreciate the beautiful surroundings on campus that we might often take for granted. Many UM colleagues have worked tirelessly in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for students and faculty. Let’s take a look at their efforts behind the scenes!

Have you noticed that the desks and chairs in the classrooms are as clean as they were before the summer holiday? Besides the regular cleaning, our colleagues have made an extra effort in cleaning the classrooms and sports facilities. They have also made a lot of effort in maintaining and improving the facilities, to provide a clean, healthy, and safe environment for students and faculty.

All the work carried out at UM is for the purpose of supporting teaching activities. In the event of emergencies that affect teaching or students’ daily lives, UM responds within the shortest time possible. For example, a pipe in a residential college burst the night before the start of the new semester, and the Campus Management Office managed to fix it within two hours.

UM also conducts testing on potable water on campus on a regular basis. The Office of Health, Safety and Environmental Affairs (HSEO) have collected water samples around the campus and all test results have met safety standards. The university also conducts regular water quality testing on water fountains, swimming pool, artificial lake, and water channels, to ensure the health of all UM members.

A student says that the campus has become more beautiful in the new academic year, adding that the plants are growing very healthy and they help to create a comfortable and cheerful learning environment. UM will continue to carry out landscaping projects and pest control treatment on a regular basis, in order to build a green campus.

The frequency of the campus shuttle service has been adjusted to every 10 minutes to meet the needs of students and faculty.

UM will continue to improve its facilities to make sure that students and faculty members work and live in a comfortable environment.
