The University of Macau (UM)’s Department of Communication will organise a special event called “Meet the Director” at UM’s STDM Auditorium this Friday (4 October 2013), in collaboration with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Hong Kong, the Cine Fan Club of the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and the University of Hong Kong. Part of Korea’s Cultural Month 2013, the event will run from 18:30 to 22:00 hours. It includes the screening of the famous South Korean director Mr. Kang Je-Gyu’s latest blockbuster, My Way (2011), and a post-screening Q&A session with the director.

Mr. Kang Je-Gyu is South Korea’s A-list film director. He is a pioneer of the Korean-style blockbuster films, specialising in war and action films. The New York Times (2012) has described My Way (2011) as a “suitably overwhelming” film with “whizzing camerawork, helter-skelter editing and bombastic score”. This film is about two men – one Korean and the other Japanese – who first become soldiers of the Japanese Empire during the colonial period, and then prisoners of war of the Soviet Union, and finally soldiers in Nazi Germany when the Allies invaded the Normandy Beaches on D-Day in 1944.

All are welcome. Please visit the event website for more information. https://news.um.edu.mo/nrs/faces/pub/viewItem.jspx?id=25811&locale=en_US
