University of Macau (UM) Rector Wei Zhao and Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) Simon Ho went to Beijing to visit the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), and Peking University, from 7 August to 10 August, in an attempt to enhance academic exchange and collaboration between UM and academic institutions in mainland China.

Rector Wei Zhao met with Secretary Chen Zhangliang from the Secretariat of CAST, NSFC President Yang Wei, and Peking University President Wang Enge. Secretary Chen pledged continued support for UM in its scientific research development.

Rector Wei Zhao shared the latest progress of the new campus, including the fact that the new campus has come under the jurisdiction of Macao SAR since 20 July, the commencement-of-use day. He also invited CAST, NSFC and Peking University to attend the inauguration ceremony for the new campus. President Yang expressed delight over the completion of the new campus as well as hopes for UM’s greater success in scientific research in the future.
