2005/2006學年畢業典禮暨榮譽博士學位頒授儀式

The 2005/2006 Congregation and Conferment of Degrees of Doctor Honoris Causa took place on 4 November 2006 at the Macao East Asian Games Dome. Mr. Ho Hau Wah, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR and Chancellor of the University presided over the ceremony, accompanied by Dr. Tse Chi Wai, Chairman of the University Council, Prof. Iu Vai Pan, Rector, Prof. Rui Martins, Vice Rector for Research, and Dr. Lai Iat Long, Vice Rector for Administration.

The Chancellor expressed his wish that, with the government's support, the University would gain development experience from prominent universities around the world and adopt new strategies under greater autonomy. He also advised graduates to follow the spirit of objectivity, reason, exploration and perseverance advocated by the University, no matter their goals for employment or further studies. Rector Iu shared his expectations for graduates in his speech and his hope that they will pursue the five virtues underlined by the University motto as their professional value: humanity, integrity, propriety, wisdom and sincerity, and reward the Macao SAR government and the entire society which have given their support to higher education development.

Accompanied by Rector Iu, the Chancellor conferred Doctor of Law honoris causa to Prof. Joao Ruiz de Almeida Garrett, a renowned jurist and the first Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University, and five Doctorates of Science honoris causa to Prof. Paul Ching-Wu Chu, President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology; Prof. Jose de Albuquerque Epifanio da Franca, General Manager, CEO and Chairman of the Chipidea Microelectronics (Macau) Limited; Prof. Han Qide, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress and Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology; Prof. Su-Seng Pang, Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives of Louisiana State University in the United States; and Prof. Yum-Tong Siu, a world-famous mathematician, respectively.

Following the conferment of honorary doctorates was conferment of degrees to graduates. There were nearly 1,200 graduates in the 2005/2006 academic year, including approximately 900 bachelors, 200 masters and 4 doctors as well as 100 recipients of postgraduate certificates and "bacharelato" degree in Education. Further, the University awarded excellent students with a number of academic prizes and scholarships.

澳門大學2005/2006學年畢業典禮暨榮譽博士學位頒授儀式於2006年11月4日下午假東亞運動會體育館舉行,由行政長官兼澳大校監何厚鏵主禮,校董會主席謝志偉博士、校長姚偉彬教授、副校長馬許願教授及黎日隆博士陪同。

何校監致辭表示,特區政府將全力支持澳大發展,他寄望澳大在新的自主空間下,能參照國際高素質、高水平的大學發展經驗,作全局的戰略思考,並勉勵畢業生無論就業還是繼續深造,也要秉承客觀理性、上下求索的大學精神。姚校長亦寄語畢業生謹記以校訓「仁、義、禮、知、信」作為應追求的一種專業價值,並以這種專業精神回饋一直支持培養高等人才的特區政府和澳門社會。

何校監在姚校長陪同下,向澳大法學院首任院長、知名法學家賈利德教授頒授榮譽法學博士學位,另有五個榮譽理學博士學位分別頒授予香港科技大學校長朱經武教授、Chipidea微電子〈澳門〉有限公司總經理、總裁兼主席Jose de Albuquerque Epifanio da Franca教授、全國人大副委員長、中國科學技術協會主席韓啟德教授、美國路易斯安那州州立大學協同副校長彭樹成教授以及世界著名數學家蕭蔭堂教授。

榮譽博士學位頒授儀式結束後隨即進行應屆畢業生學位的頒授儀式。今屆畢業生接近1,200名,其中約900名本科畢業生,約200名碩士及4名博士,還有100名分別取得學位後證書和教育專業文憑的畢業生。畢業典禮上,除頒授各學位及證書外,亦向成績優秀學生頒發了多個學術獎項及獎學金。

 

Prof. Joao Ruiz de Almeida Garrett
賈利德教授

Prof. Joao Ruiz de Almeida Garrett was born in 1923 in Oporto and is now the Rector of Portucalense University. He taught at the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra, helped to establish the Faculty of Economics of the University of Oporto. He was granted the "Grande Oficialato da Ordem da Instrucao Publica" (public education achievement medal) by the Republic of Portugal. He has contributed to the establishment of legal studies in Portuguese and Chinese languages at the Faculty of Law of the University of Macau, to the legal education of jurists and to the development of the legal and judiciary systems of Macao.

賈利德教授1923年生於波爾圖,現為波爾圖卡蘭斯大學校長,曾任教科英布拉大學法學院,協助建立波爾圖大學經濟學院,曾獲萄葡牙共和國授予公共教育成就勳章。他為開創澳門大學法學院中葡文法學研究、為培養本地法律人才以及法律及司法制度發展作出貢獻。

 

Prof. Paul Ching-Wu Chu
朱經武教授

Prof. Paul Ching-Wu Chu is the President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), a pioneer in the field of superconductivity, a distinguished scholar, and an educator. He was Director of Solid State Physics Programme of National Science Foundation of the U.S. and consultant and visiting researcher at various institutions. In 1987, he successfully discovered new superconductive materials and was appointed Executive Director of the world's largest Texas Centre for Superconductivity at University of Houston. Prof. Chu has a long history of service and contribution to the academic community and has received many awards such as the National Medal of Science, the highest honour in the field of science in the U.S., NASA Achievement Award, Comstock Award, and the International Prize for New Materials. Moreover, he was selected as one of the 100 most influential people in the area of gas and electricity in the current century by the Century of Power.

朱經武教授現為香港科技大學校長,更是超導體研究領域先鋒,傑出學者及教育家。他曾於美國擔任國家科學基金的固態物理項目主任、多所機構的顧問及客席研究員。1987年成功發現新超導材料,同年出任全球規模最大的美國休斯敦大學德州超導中心首位主任。朱教授長期投身學術事業,屢獲殊榮,包括美國科學界最高榮譽的國家科學獎、太空總署成就獎、孔士德獎及國際新材料獎,並被《世紀動力》選為本世紀在氣電方面最具影響力的100位人士之一。

 

Prof. Jose de Albuquerque Epifanio da Franca
Jose de Albuquerque Epifanio da Franca教授

Prof. Jose de Albuquerque Epifanio da Franca graduated in Electrical Engineering from Superior Technical Institute (IST), Technical University of Lisbon (UTL), Portugal, and obtained the Ph.D. in 1985 at the Imperial College of Science and Technology in London, U.K. He founded the Integrated Circuits and Systems Research Group in 1987 in Portugal. He established the IST Centre of Microsystems in 1994 and Chipidea Microelectronics (Macau) Limited in 1997. Prof. Franca made outstanding contributions in analog multi-rate signal processing and engineering education. In the mid-90's, Prof. Franca was the leader of UM postgraduates who managed to fabricate the first integrated circuit designated as UMCHIP. His research on switched-capacitor networks led to the co-authorship of five international patents with other researchers. Further, in 2006 he was awarded a national decoration designated as "Grande Oficial da Ordem do Merito" by the President of Portugal. He is also a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society.

Jose de Albuquerque Epifanio da Franca教授畢業於葡萄牙里斯本技術大學高等技術學院電機工程專業,1985年獲英國倫敦帝國理工學院博士學位。1987年在葡萄牙成立「集成電路和系統研究小組」,1994年成立「IST微電子系統中心」,1997年創立Chipidea微電子公司。Franca教授在模擬多速信號處理及電子及電機工程教學方面作出了傑出的貢獻。在90年代中期,Franca教授帶領澳大研究生成功製造第一個集成電路,命名為「澳門芯」。他在開關電容網絡方面與其他研究人員合作開發的五項成果更獲得國際專利,2006年獲葡萄牙總統頒發國家榮譽勳章,還是IEEE電路與系統學會「傑出講者」。

 

Prof. Han Qide
韓啟德教授

Prof. Han Qide is a world-renowned scientist in Pathophysiology. He was the first in the world to prove that the α1-adrenoceptor consists of two subtypes: α1a and α1b and the findings attracted worldwide attention. In 2006 Prof. Han won the Woodruff Prize Award from Emory University, an award that represents the highest honour in medicine and is reserved for those who have made re-defining contributions to the development of life science. He is a great advocate of combination of preclinical medicine with clinical application, modern medicine with Chinese traditional medicine, and learning with industry, having made immense contributions to the development of Chinese medicine and the popularisation and advancement of science. Currently, Prof. Han is the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the Chairman of China Association for Science and Technology, a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the Director of the Peking University Health Science Centre.

韓啟德教授為病理生理學領域的國際著名醫學家,他首先證實a1腎上腺素受體包含A、B兩種亞型,引起國際很大反響。2006年埃默里大學向韓啟德教授頒發了為生命科學發展作出突破性貢獻人士的最高醫學榮譽──Woodruff獎。韓教授積極倡導基礎醫學與臨床實踐結合,現代醫學與中醫藥學結合,學術與產業結合,為推動中國醫藥發展、科學普及和科技進步作出了重大的頁獻。現任全國人民代表大會常務委員會副委員長、中國科學技術協會主席、中國科學院院士及北京大學醫學部主任等。

 

Prof. Su-Seng Pang
彭樹成教授

Prof. Su-Seng Pang was born in Macao in 1958. He received elementary and secondary education in Macao and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Taiwan University in 1980, Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics from University of Minnesota, U.S.A. in 1982, and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of California, Berkeley in 1987. Presently, Prof. Pang is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and a Jack Holmes Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana State University, U.S.A. A universally-recognised pioneer and authority in composite piping systems studies, Prof. Pang has received 29 U.S. national and regional awards in research and education since 1996. He was twice honoured at the White House including the 1997 Tibbetts Award for SBIR Model of Excellence and the 1998 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics and Engineering Mentoring. In 2006 he was elected as a Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE) fellow in acknowledgement of his research achievement in joining technologies.

彭樹成教授1958年出生於澳門,在澳門完成小學及中學課程,1980年獲臺灣大學機電工程學士學位,1982年獲美國明尼蘇達大學航空工程及力學碩士學位,1987年在美國加州大學伯克萊分校獲機械工程博士學位,現為美國路易斯安那州州立大學協理副校長及機械工程系Jack Holmes教授。彭教授是國際公認的複合管道系統研究的先導和權威學者之一,自1996年共獲得29個美國國家及區域研究和教育榮譽,1997和1998兩度進入白宮接受小型企業署傑出獎章及傑出科學、數學暨工程總統獎。2006年他因在接合方法上取得的研究成果而當選為塑料工程學會會員。

 

Prof. Yum-Tong Siu
蕭蔭堂教授

Prof. Yum-Tong Siu was educated in Pui Ching Middle School in Macao and then in Hong Kong from 1949 to 1960. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from University of Hong Kong in 1963, a Master of Arts degree from University of Minnesota in 1964 and a Doc-torate from University of Princeton in 1966. He joined Harvard University in 1982 and has served there until today. In collaborative research with another well-known scholar, Prof. Yau Shing-Tung, Prof. Siu successfully resolved the Frankel Conjecture by using differential-geometric techniques. His ground-breaking work in the Mathematics of several complex variables has had a profound effect in the academic community. Apart from being named an Alfred P. Sloan Fellow and a Guggenheim Fellow, Prof. Siu has held a fellowship in the United States National Academy of Sciences.

蕭蔭堂教授於1949至1960年分別在澳門培正中學和香港就讀,1963年獲得香港大學數學學士學位,1964年獲美國明尼蘇達大學碩士學位,1966年獲普林斯頓大學博士學位,1982年加入哈佛大學任教至今。蕭教授和另一著名學者丘成桐教授合作,用微分幾何方法證明了Frankel猜想。蕭教授在多複變領域的突破性研究在學術界產生了深遠的影響,曾榮膺Sloan學者和Guggenheim學者,還是美國國家科學院院士等。
