Nobel Laureate Prof. Roy Glauber Lectures on "100 Years of the Light Quanta""
諾貝爾獎得主Roy Glauber教授主講「百年光量子物理」

Roy Glauber, Nobel Laureate in Physics, Father of Quantum Optics as well as Mallinckrodt Professor of Physics at Harvard University, delivered a lecture on "100 Years of the Light Quanta" at the University of Macau Library on 22 June 2006.

Prof. Glauber pioneered the quantum theory of optical coherence. He has been working on the theory for more than 40 years and is known as the "Father of Quantum Optics". In 2005, Prof. Glauber was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for his contribution to the quantum theory of optical coherence.

諾貝爾物理學獎得主、被譽為「量子光學之父」的美國哈佛大學教授RoyGlauber應邀來澳門大學主持「百年光量子物理」講座,該講座於2006年6月22日在澳大大學圖書館舉行。

Glauber教授為最早提出光同調性量子理論的人,由20世紀60年代研究光學理論至今已逾40年,被譽為量子光學之父。2005年,Glauber教授因對光學同調性的量子理論作出了貢獻而獲頒諾貝爾物理學獎。

Prof. Su-Seng Pang Lectures on "Impact Response of Composite Sandwich Structures with a Hybrid Core"
彭樹成教授主講「複合材料三明治結構之衝擊效應」

The Department of Electromechanical Engineering of the Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau invited Prof. Su-Seng Pang, Associate Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Louisiana State University, USA, to lecture on "Impact Response of Composite Sandwich Structures with a Hybrid Core". The lecture was held in the University of Macau Library on 18 May 2006.

Prof. Pang was born in Macao. After completing his high school education in the territory, he furthered his studies in Taiwan and the USA, where he had outstanding academic performances. A recognised expert in the composite materials research field, Prof. Pang has participated in more than 90 research and educational projects funded by diverse circles including the US National Science Foundation, NASA, Navy, Army, and Air Force. He has also received many awards for research and education.

澳門大學科技學院機電工程系邀請美國路易斯安那州州立大學副校長,機械工程系彭樹成教授,於2006年5月18日假澳大大學圖書館主講:「複合材料三明治結構之衝擊效應」。

彭樹成教授出生於澳門,並在本地中學畢業,之後赴台灣和美國學習,成績優異。他被公認為複合材料研究領域之專家,曾參與90多項獲美國國家科學基金、美國宇航局和軍方等各界資助之研究與教育計劃,並獲得多個研究與教育的獎項。

Prof. Tony Hoare Lectures on "The Ideal of Programme Correctness"
Tony Hoare教授主講「程序正確性的理想」

The Faculty of Science and Technology of the University of Macau and the International Institute for Software Technology of the United Nations University jointly organised a distinguished lecture on "The Ideal of Programme Correctness" at the University of Macau Library on 26 May 2006. Prof. Sir Tony Hoare was invited to be the speaker. One of the most influential scientists of computing in the world, in 1980 Prof. Hoare received the Turing Award, the highest honour in computing science.

澳門大學科技學院與聯合國大學國際軟件技術研究所,於2006年5月26日在澳門大學大學圖書館聯合舉辦學術講座,邀請 Tony Hoare 教授主講 "程序正確性的理想"。他於1980年獲計算機科學最高學術獎圖靈獎,是世界上最有影響力的計算機科學家之一。

Prof. Tang Man-Chung Lectures on "Innovative, Conservative and Artistic – Basic Principles of Bridge Engineering"
鄧文中教授主講「創新、穩妥和美觀——橋樑工程的基本原則」

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering of the University of Macau organised, on 2 June 2006, a distinguished lecture entitled "Innovative, Conservative and Artistic – Basic Principles of Bridge Engineering". The speaker, Prof. Man-Chung Tang is a world-famous bridge expert of Chinese descent. One-fifth of the cablestayed bridges in North America, and one-tenth in the world, were built from his design. In 1999, Prof. Tang was selected by Engineering News Record as one of the world's top 125 contributors to the construction industry during the past 125 years (1874-1999).

澳門大學土木及環境工程系邀請了國際知名華裔橋樑專家鄧文中教授,於2006年6月2日下午於澳門大學文化中心主講「創新、穩妥和美觀——橋樑工程的基本原則」。世界上十分之一、北美五分之一的斜拉橋都是他設計的。鄧教授更於1999年榮獲國際權威的建築工程界雜誌《Engineering News Record》選為近125年(1874-1999)建築工程界125位最具貢獻的人物之一。

 

Three Distinguished Lectures on Microelectronics
三場傑出微電子專題講座

In celebration of the 25th Anniversary of the University of Macau, three Distinguished Lectures on Microelectronics were held on 7 July 2006 at the University of Macau Library. The three lectures were: "Minimizing Non-Idealities Due to Mismatch in Sub-Micron Analog CMOS Circuits Using Digital Calibration", presented by Prof. Ken Martin; "On the Cutting Edge of Research Frontier in the Nanoelectronics Era---Human-Inspired Intelligent SOC and 20-100 - GHz CMOS RF ICs", presented by Prof. Peter (Chung-Yu) Wu; and "Technology Trends of Integrated Circuit in SOC based on the Analysis of ISSCC Papers", presented by Prof. Zhihua Wang.

為慶祝澳門大學25週年校慶,澳大在2006年7月7日,於大學圖書館舉行了三場傑出微電子專題講座,包括由 Ken Martin 教授主講的「利用數字校正技術最小化深亞微米模擬CMOS電路中由不匹配引起的非理想因素」,吳重雨教授主講的「納米時代中研究領域的尖端——源於人類智慧的智能系統蕊片及20-100 GHz CMOS射頻集成電路」,以及由王志華教授主講的「據ISSCC論文分析集成電路在當今系統芯片的科技趨勢」。
