A University of Macau Ph.D student’s work has currently been recognized by the National Ministry of Education. Mr. Jiao Yanpeng, a Faculty of Law student, was one of the members of the research group for the project, “Compensation Systems for Use of Mineral Resources and Ecological Compensation Mechanism”. The project has been selected during the 2009’s National Key Research Project on Philosophy and Social Sciences (NKRP). 

NKRP, sponsored by the National Ministry of Education since 2003, is an important organizational type on national key research project in philosophy and social sciences.  
 
Mr. Jiao participated in three sub-projects led by Prof. Li Guoping from Jiaotong University of Xi’an. These research projects connect closely with the national development of our country and will directly benefit the community.
 
Since Mr. Jiao was enrolled in the University of Macau for his Ph.D degree, he has been making great progress under the supervision of the Faculty of Law Professor Zhao Guoqiang. Twelve academic papers were published and he was elected as Director by two National Academic Organizations. Mr. Jiao was appointed Visiting Scholar by the McMaster University, a co-partner of the United Nations University International Network on Water, Environment and Health (UNU-INWEH).
