UM to hold Overseas Education Expo Next Month

In 2009, the percentage of University of Macau (UM) graduates who decided to continue their postgraduate studies has gone up 10% compared to the previous year. In order to encourage more students to undertake further studies and commit lifelong learning, UM will hold an overseas education expo during 2-5 March 2010 for graduating students to learn more about overseas postgraduate programmes. At the exposition, education counseling organizations will set up exhibiting counters to introduce information about overseas postgraduate programmes. Seminar on overseas studies will also be held during that time, to provide students information on programme, learning environment, admission requirements, application procedures and study loans, etc.

In recent years, UM is actively providing services in assisting students in the area of further education. Last year, the Student Affair Section (SAS) has organized many education seminars and free postgraduate studies preparation course such as TOEFL exam preparation course; at the meantime, preparation courses for GMAT and GRE will also be available in the near future to equip students with the necessary knowledge and prepare them for undertaking further studies.

On the other hand, SAS has introduced the “UM Fly High” project to keep second-year to fourth-year students engaged. By organizing seminars on further studies, holding regular gathering and conducting latest information release, a platform is established for students to develop friendship, exchange information and provide support to one another. These measures can help strengthen students’ confidence in undertaking further studies, so they can “Fly High, Fly towards The Dreams”. Now the project has nearly 200 participants.

UM will continue to encourage students to further their studies and help ensuring them a smooth transitional time by providing relevant services. For enquiries about UM further studies service, please contact Ms. Tam or Ms. Chan of Student Affair Section at 83794842 or 83974839.
