Today (25 August) the University of Macau (UM) continues with disaster recovery, with focus on repairing damaged teaching facilities, in order to ensure that classes can resume next Monday.

Staff from UM’s command centre for emergency control today continue to work around the clock with all the units on campus, student organisations, and government authorities, to maintain basic living conditions on campus, including electricity for lighting, water for cooking and drinking, and food. Electricity for lighting is now stable and water for cooking and drinking has seen improvement since this morning. Also, UM thanks various institutes for donating bottled water.

All the residential colleges at UM have been able to provide meals to their students. Computer and internet systems have been mostly restored to (almost) normal service. UM staff continue to repair damaged classrooms and other teaching facilities to ensure that classes can be resumed next Monday morning.

Today, hundreds of student volunteers from UM continue to assist with disaster recovery both on and off the campus. These students hope to do their best to support the community through this difficult time.
