Wan Weng San from the Department of Portuguese, who was admitted to UM on the recommendation of her secondary school principal, received the Wu’s Group Academic Prize. ‘Although UM does not offer a bachelor’s degree programme in translation studies, it still gave me exposure to knowledge in different fields. In the first year, our professors already gave us a lot of opportunities to participate in Portuguese language activities,’ says Wan. ‘Through these activities, we were able to meet people from Portuguese-speaking countries and learn more about the Portuguese culture. The activities were very helpful to my studies.’

This year, UM awarded more than 60 kinds of scholarships and academic prizes on various occasions, including the convocation, the scholarship presentation ceremony, the ceremony for the conferment of honorary degrees and higher degrees, and the high table dinners in the various residential colleges.
