Prof Kim Hughes Wilhelm from the University of Macau’s (UM) Department of English will give talks on her two meditation books, titled The Journey Within and Journeys Beyond, on Wednesday 24 February and Thursday 25 February, from 1:30pm to 4:30pm, in Room 2025, UM Wu Yee Sun Library. All are welcome.

Prof Wilhelm began practicing meditation five years ago, mostly as a means to reduce her high blood pressure. She quickly found it essential for achieving a balance between mind, body, and spirit (or soul). Noting a lack of knowledge on the part of the public about how to start a meditation practice and how easily the practice can be integrated into today’s busy lifestyle, Prof Wilhelm started a research project that lasted over two years and spanned several continents. Nearly 40 practitioners were interviewed during the period, and the two books are transcriptions of the interviews. According to Prof Wilhelm, the books will be a good read regardless of whether or not one is interested in starting a spiritual practice.

The talk will be followed by a special musical performance by Kelsey Wilhelm from the Macao-based band Concrete Lotus. Special meditation sessions will be held at 5:15pm at the same venue.
