An academic conference titled ‘Direction of Cross-strait Relations after Taiwan’s Election’ was recently held at the University of Macau (UM). The event attracted more than 30 scholars and former government officials from mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and the United States. Participants discussed the changes in the political climate in Taiwan after its general elections.

The conference was co-organised by UM’s Institute of Global and Public Affairs, the Collaborative Innovation Center for Peaceful Development of Cross-Strait Relations under Xiamen University, and an organisation in Guangdong province dedicated to promoting peaceful development of cross-strait relations.
