The Department of Communication and the Department of History, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Macau (UM) will jointly organize a seminar which features the speech “Indonesia’s Future Development in Asia and its Relationship with China” delivered by Mr. Dahlan Iskan, Chief Executive Officer of Java Post Group, this Sunday (May 24) at HG01, Ho Yin Convention Centre, UM, at 19:30.

Mr. Iskan is a leading media tycoon in Indonesia with assets of 172 million US dollars. Mr. Iskan, often called Indonesia’s Rupert Murdoch, is the CEO of Jawa Pos News Network (JPNN), a leading newspaper in Indonesia. Under Mr. Iskan’s management, Jawa Pos has grown from a small, collapsing newspaper into a media conglomerate that owns more than 100 newspapers and a printing network covering 40 cities in Indonesia, the biggest newspaper network in the country. It also owns 12 local television stations, a paper mill, several building towers and power plants. In addition to the media business, he also has a keen interest in education. Presently, Mr. Iskan is working on a project rebuilding hundred Islamic schools into international Islamic schools.
