The University of Macau’s (UM) Communications Office (CO) moved into its new office on the new campus on Tuesday 27 May. It is the fourth time CO has moved since its founding. Excited CO colleagues held an office warming ceremony to celebrate the move.

It is CO’s fourth and largest move since its founding, involving not just office supplies, but also three warehouses of souvenirs, publications and event props. CO colleagues started preparing for the move about two weeks ago, sorting and packing more than 10,000 souvenirs, publications, news clippings, and documents. Because of the thorough preparation and thoughtful arrangements, the move was completed very smoothly.

CO used to be a small department with only two colleagues, but now it has more than 20 colleagues. Under CO there is the Public Relations Section, which provides a variety of services, including event organisation, news and editorial, publications, media relations, community relations, online communication, design and photography, information in Chinese, Portuguese and English, answering general inquiries, and branding.

Originally, CO’s office was on the third floor in the Tai Fung Building. In 1988, it moved to the third floor in the Luso-Chinese building, and later to the fourth floor in the Tai Fung Building.
