Prof. Elvis Mak Pui In, coordinator of the Wireless Research Line of the State-Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI and associate professor of the Faculty of Science and Technology at the University of Macau (UM), has been invited to serve on the editorial board of IEEE Press, which is IEEE’s largest book publishing division, for a three-year term starting 2014. Prof. Mak is the first scholar from Macao to serve this position at IEEE. Earlier he was named Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Circuits and Systems Society for the 2014-2015 period and was invited to serve on the editorial board of three top IEEE journals. These honours are a testament to the recognised leading position of the State-Key Laboratory of Analog and Mixed-Signal VLSI in the field of microelectronics.

IEEE Press is IEEE’s largest book publishing division. It publishes technical books in all the fields covered by IEEE. Past editorial members include a number of top-notch scholars and IEEE fellows. One of them is Michael Lighter, former president of IEEE from 1993 to 1994. Prof. Mak’s being invited to serve on the editorial board of IEEE Press shows international recognition of the quality of UM scholars. Prof. Mak will assume office later this year, with a term of three years.

Prof. Mak’s other new appointments for IEEE top journals since 2014 include senior editor of the IEEE Journal on Emerging and Selected Topics in Circuits and Systems, associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems I – Regular Papers, and guest editor of the IEEE RFIC Virtual Journal (co-editorship with Dr. Domine Leenaerts from NXP Semiconductors, who is also a IEEE fellow).

Prof. Mak was born and grew up in Macao. He received his bachelor’s degree and PhD degree from UM.
