Dr. Chan Keng Lim, the first PhD graduate of the University of Macau (UM) Faculty of Education, received the top prize in the psychology and education category at an award programme for PhD theses in the fields of social sciences and the humanities, which was organised by Chengchi University in Taiwan, for his paper entitled “A Study of Educational Equality of Macao Basic Education through Analysis of PISA2006 Scientific Literacy Assessment data”. Chan is the first scholar from Macao to receive a prize under this programme since its founding.  

Every year two papers from each of the 11 fields (literature, history, philosophy, psychology and education, politics, society, economics, business administration, law, communication, and international relations) are selected for the top prize and the excellence prize respectively.

Chan’s paper was supervised by Prof. Cheung Kwok Cheung.
