At the second East Asia Postgraduate Literature, History and Society Forum and the third PhD Students Chinese Studies Academic Forum, Jin Chunyuan and Dong Sicong, both PhD students of the Department of Chinese, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, University of Macau (UM), won the Excellent Paper Award. Their supervisors are Prof. Sze Yi Tui and Prof. Xu Jie respectively.

The second East Asian Postgraduate Forum on Literature, History and Society was held in Seoul, South Korea, from 30 June to 2 July. Jin Chunyuan’s paper titled “A Study on the Origin, Development and Forms of Classical Chinese Poetry” won an Excellent Paper Award. Co-organized by Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, Taiwan Normal University, UM and Shanghai University, the forum aimed to strengthen academic interactions among students and scholars from the four universities in East Asia. Topics discussed at the forum included classical Chinese literature and society, cultural communication of East Asia, religions of East Asia, and modern social culture.

The third PhD Students Academic Forum in Chinese Studies was held in Guangzhou, China, on 7 July. Dong Sicong’s paper titled “The Clitic ‘zai(仔)’ in Cantonese and the De-grammaticalization of Chinese Diminutive Markers” won an Excellent Paper Award. Hosted by Sun Yat-sen University’s Department of Chinese, the forum aimed to enhance communication and cooperation among different institutions in the field, and to stimulate PhD students’ creativity. In the four parallel sessions, participants presented research papers on literature, linguistics, philology and intangible cultural heritage studies and listened to comments from experts. The forum attracted PhD students from numerous renowned universities, including Peking University, Beijing Normal University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, the City University of Hong Kong and UM.
