The 12th UM-HKUST Cup Sports Challenge Competition, which was jointly organized by the University of Macau (UM) Students’ Union – Sports Association and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (HKUST) Students’ Union – Sports Association, was held at UM’s Sports Complex on 9 April 2011. 350 people, including 150 athletes from HKUST, participated in the competition.
UM-HKUST Cup Sports Challenge is a yearly sports event. This year’s competition is composed of 11 events, including Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Men’s Volleyball, Women’s Volleyball, Badminton, Table-Tennis, Squash, Soccer, Tennis, Fencing and Korfball.
This activity aims to enhance the friendship between the two universities and improve the participants’ athletic skills. It also enables the participants to meet people who share athletic interests.
Through an entire day of intense competition, UM team won the championship with a final score of 6:5. An awards presentation and closing ceremony was held in Grand Waldo Hotel following the competition.
