IP Phone
Introduction
In 2005, the University consolidated traditional PBX communication system with IP telephone system. New buildings are also built with IP telephone network and the University is gradually stepping forward to Unified Communication.
Benefits of Using IP Phone
IP Phone system allows us to consolidate the voice network and data network, so that we need to maintain only one network infrastructure and to share existing resources effectively.
With IP Phone system, you will enjoy the following benefits:
- Caller Line Identification (CLI) for Internal calls;
- Call Waiting;
- Call logs;
- Create up to 250 entries (or up to 108 entries for 4620SW) in your Contacts List and dial from the list;
- IP Phone number can be relocated to anywhere where wired network connection is available;
- Voice Conference calls with up to 5 other parties;
- Integrate with other applications;
- Additional call features on request:
- Auto Callback - Audio and Visual notification when a busy extension become available;
- Call Pickup - Answer incoming call on another phone within your group;
- Call Forwarding;
- Call Transfer;
- Busy Line Indicator - Visual Indicator to know whether an extension is busy;
- Extension Bridging;
- Abbreviated Dialing (Depends on IP Phone model, prefer to use Contacts List on IP Phone);
- Voice mailbox;
Getting Started
After your IP Phone installation, you should:
- Try making incoming and outgoing calls with your IP Phone;
- Understand basic features of IP Phone. Refer to IP Phone User Guides for details;
- Understand basic operations of voicemail system if you have applied voicemail service. Refer to Voicemail User Guides for details;
