Symposium on the breakthroughts and transformation of Macau after returning China, jointly organized by University of Macau and University of Toronto
On 19 March 2012, a joint Symposium on “China’s Macao SAR: 12 Years of Breakthrough & Transformation”, organized by the University of Macau (UM) and the University of Toronto (UT), was held at UT. A diversed array of topics were discussed, for example, “Overview of the Macao SAR’s First 12 Years”, “University of Macau Cross-Border New Campus as PRD Integration Breakthrough”, “Macao SAR Governance & Economy”, “Macao SAR Identity, Culture & Heritage” and “Macao SAR/Macanese External Links”.

Minister of Higher Edcucation, Science and Innovation of Cape Verde visited UM and delivered Talk for Distinguished Diplomatic & Consular Speakers Series (DDCSS) 2012 Prof. António Leão Correia e Silva, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Cape Verde visited University of Macau on 12 April. During his visit he took the opportunity to deliver a talk "Cape Verde: The Man and the Sea - Opportunities and Challenges for Development", which was about Cape Verde's maritime history. UM Vice Rectors attended the EduBuild Asia 2012 in Singapore to share experience in articulating the Hengqin new campus Invited by the Organizer, Prof. Simon Ho, Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) and Dr. Alex Lai, Vice Rector (Administration) attended the EduBuild Asia 2012 in Singapore on 28 and 29 March. During the Conference Prof. Ho shared the academic settings of the Hengqin new campus, for example, residential colleges and "4-in-1" educational system, while Dr. Lai shared his experience in managing the new campus project, including oppotunities and challenges.
