The Department of Portuguese offers PhD studies in Linguistics, principally in the major areas of Applied Linguistics (Language Acquisition, Language Teaching) and Sociolinguistics (Variation studies, dialectology, Portuguese-based Creole languages, and in the area of Literary Studies and Translation Studies.
