| The Department of Portuguese of the University of Macau is the largest department of Portuguese Studies in Ásia, with the largest number of staff and students, and the greatest diversity of study programmes. Our staff include native speakers of Portuguese from Portugal and Brazil, and Chinese bilinguals. We offer three programmes at undergraduate level, including the Bachelor of Arts in Portuguese Studies. At the postgraduate level we offer a Masters in Portuguese Language and Culture, a Masters in Translation, and Doctoral programmes in Linguistics, and in Literary and Translation Studies. Our Research Centre comprises five areas: Sociolinguistics and Creole Linguistics, Acquisition of Portuguese as a Foreign Language, Pedagogy of Portuguese as a Foreign Language, Translation and Interpretation, and the History of Portuguese Asia.
