ETARC researchers received Best Paper Award

A paper entitled "Analysis of Log File Data to Understand Problem-Solving Behavior: An Example of a Released Item from PISA 2012 Study", co-written by Dr. Ieong Man Kai, Dr. Sit Pou Seong, Dr. Mak Soi Kei, and Prof. Cheung Kwok Cheung, received the only Best Paper Award at the 2015 Global Chinese Conference on Educational Information and Assessment – Chinese Association of Psychological Testing Annual Conference.

ETARC researchers received Excellent Research Paper Award

A paper entitled "The Effects of Reading Engagement, Family and Academic Background on Reading Literacy Performance: A Study of Learning Characteristics of the Academic Resilient and Advantaged Low-Achievers", co-written by Dr. Ieong Man Kai, Prof. Cheung Kwok Cheung, Dr. Sit Pou Seong and Dr. Mak Soi Kei won Excellent Research Paper Award in the 4th Outstanding Achievement Awards for Macao Research in Humanities and Social Sciences.

FED's first PhD graduate got top thesis prize in Taiwan

Dr. Chan Keng Lim, the first PhD graduate of FED, received the top prize in the psychology and education category at an award programme for PhD theses in the fields of social sciences and the humanities, which was organized by Chengchi University in Taiwan, for his paper entitled "A Study of Educational Equality of Macao Basic Education through Analysis of PISA 2006 Scientific Literacy Assessment Data". Dr. Chan is the first scholar from Macao to receive a prize under this programme since its founding.

Educational Testing and Assessment Research Centre (ETARC)  
was established in September 2006 under the Faculty of Education, University of Macau.
ETARC seeks to:

1. Collaborate with other professional bodies on testing and assessment projects
 (e.g.collaborate with OECD on the conduct of international PISA studies)

2. Promote consultation services and applications of testing and assessment
 (e.g.promotion of the use of computer-based assessment of literacy in
 Macao schools)

3. Embark on relevant studies pertaining to educational testing and assessment
 (e.g. research into integrated assessment systems in different school
 subject areas)

4. Carry out thematic research pertaining to educational testing and assessment
 (e.g. assessment of multiple intelligences)

5. Develop computerized software system of educational testing and assessment
 (e.g.development of BRIDGES for academic counseling and exploitation of
 multiple intelligences)

6. Develop innovative educational tests and tools
 (e.g. storyboard assessment for emergent reading comprehension)
