Three-Week English Enhancement Programme in New Zealand
is now available for preliminary registration

Encouraged by the success of previous years, FED is organizing the “Three-Week English Enhancement Programme in New Zealand" (tentatively scheduled for 26 May- 16 June 2018), which aims at providing our BEd students with excellent opportunities to experience learning and teaching English in a beautiful English-speaking country, doing real classroom teaching in New Zealand schools and using English for genuine communicative interactions with native English speakers throughout the immersion programme. Participating students will carry out co-teaching of regular lessons collaboratively with English-speaking mentors in the placement schools in Auckland. Thus you will gain hands-on the professional knowledge and skills needed to function effectively in a native English-speaking community.

This year we increased the quota to 30 hoping more students (not only English majors) to participate. If the no. of applicants is over 30, a certain selection process will be carried out.

The estimated cost for programme fee, accommodation and return air-ticket is around MOP25,000. However, participants will need to prepare some cash for local transportation, weekday lunches, etc. in New Zealand. Macao SAR passport holders do not need to apply for an entrance visa, but other passport holders (such as Mainland Chinese passport) need to apply for visa and the applicant needs to bear the cost.

The Faculty will apply for MOP10,000 subsidy from UM for the FED participants.

In addition to UM's subsidy, the Faculty will also help students who fulfill the requirements below to apply for a subsidy around MOP10,000 from Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ):
1) Macao Residents
2) Year-3 or Year-4 students majoring in English, Primary Education or Pre-Primary Education
3) CGPA ≥ 3.20

The two subsidies mentioned above are subject to approval. Interested students please register online on or before 28 February 2018 by clicking the button below:
