Classification Scheme

We adopt the UNBIS (United Nations Bibliographic Information System) Thesaurus

Classification System to classify all the international organization publications in our Centre,

which is published by The Dag Hammarskjöld Library of the United Nations. UNBIS

Thesaurus System comes in handy as our collections are expanding quite rapidly, this

system is a reliable, accurate and authorized reference tool to our Centre, so reliable that it

provides a wide range of subject terms in all topics to our staff in their classification process. For instance, the

system's 6-digitized "call no."provides a more thorough classification as opposed to the original 2 digits (see the

following outline). In long run, our adoption of UNBIS Thesaurus System fulfills our

commitment to DC users.Based on the UNBIS Thesaurus, the category is from 01 to

18. Then we develop the category no.19 which groups all the statistical publications

together.
