ACT® Test

The Centre for Continuing Education (CCE) has been appointed as an authorised ACT test centre in Macao.

About the ACT test:
The ACT is formally known as "the ACT college readiness assessment." It is a paper-based test used as a criterion for admission by all US colleges and universities, and more than 225 other universities outside the United States. It is launched by ACT Inc., a nonprofit organization in the United States. It contains four main tests, namely English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. Writing is optional.

All registration and confirmation, as well as the test-related enquires are handled by ACT Inc. Candidates will not receive any emails and phone messages from CCE.

TOEIC® Listening and Reading Test

The Centre for Continuing Education has been appointed as an authorised TOEIC test centre in Macao, offering TOEIC® Listening and Reading Test.


About the TOEIC test:
ETS, an industry leader in English-language assessment for over 60 years, designed the TOEIC® tests to measure workplace English skills. For more than 30 years, over 10,000 organizations (businesses, government agencies, universities and vocational schools) in 120 countries rely on the TOEIC® tests to demonstrate English proficiency and help them get ahead of the competition. More than 6 million TOEIC® tests were administrated in 2010.

An admission ticket will be emailed to you by your local TOEIC representative to confirm your testing date and location.

Test fee:
MOP680.00

Payment methods accepted by CCE:
1. By VISA/MASTER card
2. By cheque/cashier's order, payable to "University of Macau"
3. By DSEJ Continuing Education Scheme (if applicable). Applicants must apply in person and present a valid Macau ID card.

Test format:

Format

Paper-and-pencil. 200 multiple-choice questions.

Duration

The TOEIC® Listening and Reading test takes approximately two and a half hours with

* 45 minutes for Listening
* 75 minutes for Reading
* Approximately 30 minutes to answer biographical questions

Content

Listening: Test takers listen to a variety of questions and short conversations recorded in English, then answer questions based on what they have heard (100 items total).

* Part 1: Photographs
* Part 2: Question-Response
* Part 3: Conversations
* Part 4: Short Talks

Reading: Test takers read a variety of materials and respond at their own pace (100 items total).

* Part 5: Incomplete Sentences
* Part 6: Error Recognition or Text Completion
* Part 7: Reading Comprehension
